Got this e-mail from lpackard re: blogger caucus at the MDP convention
Now this is a caucus I could attend. livvy and I were going to get down there a little later, but I may still go earlier and go to this caucus at 10.

Hello all,

I posted about this last night at Michlib, but I wanted to give you a
heads up directly. Are you planning to go to the Michigan Democratic
Party convention this weekend in Detroit? It's free and open to the
public, so even if you're not an MDP member you are welcome to attend.
More here: http://www.michigandems.com/convention/ And if you need a
ride, contact your county Democratic party, I think most of them are
setting up carpools.

Anyways, if you are going, don't miss the first ever bloggers' caucus
on Saturday morning. It'll be from 10am to noon, in room D31-A. Still
finalizing the agenda, but tentatively we're planning to talk about
everything from the CT election to the Roots project to how to grow
lefty political blogging in Michigan. I also have a feeling that some
candidates may be stopping by..

How you can help, is first to spread the word - email anybody you can
think of who should be invited, and blog about it on your own blog if
you're so inclined. Second, if you want to help with the planning
please reply back and I can get you in on the emails bouncing back and
forth. And third, please be there on Saturday.

Also - there will be a "bloggers row" on the convention floor, so
don't forget to bring your laptop for live-blogging at Cobo.

Laura

1. carpool
Car pooling definitely sounds like a good idea. I always get lost in Detroit, I'd much rather just pitch in for gas ;)

Would anyone like to meetup at the OCDP HQ or maybe the Skinner office?

2. I would love to, Jordan -- or you could come to my house,
which is on the way downtown. The only issue is that I'm staying downtown for Nancy's Martha Reeves party and will not be coming home right after the convention ends. Maybe we can figure something out if you're not staying downtown. Ask around at the office for options. I hate driving downtown, too, so if we can get down there with someone else, that would be great. If not, parking on the Cobo roof isn't too bad, as you don't have to drive around downtown much. The Lodge takes you right to the roof.

4. I'd like to go to that, too.
Maybe I could go early for that, and leave during lunch, go home, let the furballs out, and come back. A noon let-out should hold them until early to mid-evening. I'll check with their "dad", and see if he would be willing to risk life and limb to let them out. Dang Maia, such a fussy prima donna. Everyone else would be delighted to see him.
I don't know. I'll work on it. Hmmm...just thought of another plan. This one sounds promising...I'll talk to you later in the week.

5. Okay -- sounds good
Don't forget, though -- if you leave at lunchtime, you'll miss Granholm's speech and rally -- probably the highlight of the convention, in my book. (Unless you mean from 1-2, when lunch is actually being served.) We'll talk in a couple of days.

6. Hope to see everybody there!
FYI the schedule posted at the MDP website may be out of date, I think Senator Stabenow and Governor Granholm switched time slots.

You might want to skip the actual lunch - from what I remember of the convention last time, it's pretty skippable!

7. The memorial service for Mary Ann Mahaffey is at 3, I believe
Lousy timing, especially if the governor is now speaking at 3:30! Better bring some snacks, I guess, if the lunch is going to be awful.

8. Here's another update
More info on the blogger caucus. Juan Cole is going to be there, lots and lots of bloggers, and a bunch of candidates too.
