downtown St. Paul at 4:00PM? (Get there before the Saturday night crowds and allow them that has social obligations later in the evening time to slip out?)

Wisconsin residence should not be a disqualifying factor!

I consider myself a Minnesota man no matter what. When someone asks me where I'm from no matter where in the world I travel I still tell them Minnesota I only sleep in wisconsin.

The Liffey is in the Holiday Inn, and you can park in the ramp behind it for fairly reasonably, IIRC.

From the east:

From the west:

I checked the schedule for the Xcel Center and there is no scheduled event that will conflict with our meet-up.
Mannheim Steamroller is scheduled for a concert at 7:30, but that shouldn't draw crowds or traffic that will intefere with our meeting.

The holidays will get off to a flying leap Saturday in St. Paul when Santa arrives in town via parachute.

It's a Winter Carnival promotion; Santa will carry prototypes of the new Carnival buttons in his pack as he descends, sans Rudolph, into the Cleveland Circle area across from the Xcel Energy Center at 10 a.m.

From there, Vulcan fire engines will transport Santa and Mayor Randy Kelly to Rice Park for an afternoon of music, games, food and visits with Santa, sponsored by O'Neill Amusements, the company that ran the old Como Park rides for decades until it was ousted last year.

I will try my best to be there, but could be a little late. (My daughter is going to the Aveda beauty school to have her hair dyed purple, which could end up taking all day. Especially considering what might happen when purple is added to the blonde, red and black dye she has used over the last couple of months...:crazy: )

My weekend event photography activities (www.dodgerdigital.com) have been picking up lately. I am doing a B-Ball tourney at Bethel Univ this weekend and have no idea what will happen on the 26th but I will try to find a way.

Lydia, what was the largest DU gathering? The one at Local?
The first one at that place in Bloomington (can't remember the name) had a very large turnout. Gaspnes, dflprincess, myrna were there.

So was northernsoul, who I have not seen since, what is up with that, counselor? He is a good articulator.

but I didn't move back here till August 2003.

By the way, someone (me, probably) should pm myrna minx and get her to attend this one.

but I think it was in November or so. I remeber because we were all wandering into the restaurant trying to figure out who the DUers were. Nobody had met anybody else at that point.

You could have knocked me over with a medium-sized falafal when I saw SueGeo there. It felt *so* good to have political conversations that involved agreement instead of argument.

And it was a pretty big meet-up, but I think "It's Greek to Me" was bigger.

My husband and I will be in New York for Thanksgiving and won't get back until the 30th. Will there be another one sometime soon? I'd love to meet everyone!

Alas I won't likely be able to make this meetup as I will have in-laws in town and in my house. One of these days I'll make one of these meetups, I swear.
