I know that politics creates strange matching
but this is ridiculous

My name, address and phone number are in the DFL data base. Fine. Yesterday I received a form to request an absentee ballot for the special SD-43 elections on Nov. 22.

The form, however, had my name and... the name of the former owner of this house - that we bought more than three years ago!! Both names were connected with "and."

And, just to be safe, it also had "or current resident."

Whom do I contact to tell them to remove the previous owner's name from this address?

It really looks bizarre. Even spouse, who normally would just glance at the mail uttered an exclamation.

1. Depends...
If it came from the DFL, probably them guys. If it came from the sectary of state that would be the place to go.

Sounds strange none the less.

2. I'll bet
whoever it was did a big duplicate sweep in the database and combined all records where either the full name or address matched. That can really screw up a lot of records - I've heard of it happening before when trying to combine dupes.

3. Hey, csorman, welcome to DU
:bounce: :toast:

More about mailers

Yesterday there were two pieces of mail from Terri Bonoff in my mail box. And now I know that her opponent, the current mayor of Plymouth believes in creationism.

Anyway, the only name was mine, so I wonder whether they are preaching to the choir. After all, both of us are registered, both own the house and pay the utilities (that's how we could register in the first place, on election day 2002).
