Have you called your MN rep in Congress about the budget cuts?
The U.S. House Votes This Afternoon!

Cuts in food stamps, Medicaid, child support, child care, and school lunches are all in the Republican budget proposal.

U.S. House leaders have twice been forced to postpone a vote on $50 billion in budget cuts to programs that are vital to the health and well-being of children and their families.

The cuts are being pushed by House leaders at the same time $70 billion in tax breaks are being planned, with a significant portion of those breaks going to the wealthiest Americans.

1. They already voted, and it was defeated! 224-209
WASHINGTON - Legislation to fund many of the nation's health, education and social programs went down to a startling defeat in the House Thursday, led by Democrats who said cuts in the bill hurt some of America's neediest people.

The 224-209 vote against the $142.5 billion spending bill disrupted plans by Republican leaders to finish up work on this year's spending bills and cast doubt on whether they would have the votes to pass a major budget-cutting bill also on the day's agenda.

2. spoke too soon. The budget bill passed. The earlier bill
was a partial funding plan.

The overall budget bill squeeked through by 2 votes.

3. The Minnesota Democrats all voted no
and so did Ramstad - maybe he's coming to his senses.
