Hello from storm central in Detroit Lakes!
Anybody else bracing for this beast? We've been getting pummeled with ice and freezing rain since late last night. It's just now changing over to a bit of snow. All the surrounding counties are losing power. So far we're ok here in Becker. Here's a few pics from the newspaper website gonna be a long day and night up here!

2. If you get a piece of this... It probably won't be.
I see on the MinnDot website that there have been 40 accidents in our county so far. Why do people drive when they know there's an ice storm? That's just craziness. So far no fatalities thank goodness.

The blizzard conditions are just now arriving here. All that ice that's been hanging on my house is breaking, it sounds like war of the worlds out there on my roof. lol.

3. Nice pictures
Isn't nature fabulous? And fierce? 6 pm here in St. Paul and still raining. But getting colder. I drove today, knowing I probably wouldn't want to tomorrow. Jeeze people, plan ahead.

Don't go out in it if you do not have to.

5. We lost power in Becker Co for about 4 hours.
Just came back on. Me and my kitty are frozen. Electric heat only. The winds are dying down. Can't tell how much snow we got... looks like 4 or 5 inches from the windows. Thank goodness the winds are gone now. That was scary!

6. Here's something you don't see everyday... from the Nat'l Weather Service
Edited on Tue Nov-29-05 06:58 AM by KyndCulture
The National Weather Service in Grand Forks, N.D., didn’t have accurate wind data for Fargo because its gauges were frozen, but meteorologist Dave Kellenbenz said gusts reached 50 mph across the region.

7. I hope you're all warmed up by now
What a storm you had up there!

We had an unusually pleasant day yesterday but that changed by evening. Now it's 27 and it is expected to be in the teens by tomorrow.

It'll be REALLY slippery out today because of the rain.

Take it easy.

8. It's very slick in the twin cities
And windy. Busses running way behind schedule. Steep hill? Forget it. Looks like a good day to stay home. Wish I had. :(

9. Hey 'nuf!
Don't be wishing for that stay at home stuff. You're gonna have that soon enough.

Looking forward to meeting up with you again soon.

10. Yeah the house is much warmer now!
UGH not looking forward to a night like that again anytime soon. We're luckier than most up here at least the power came back on. Lots up here are going to be without power for a few days. I guess the ice zapped a lot of the main power grid.

Glad I work from home and could give myself the morning off to go back to bed in a warm bed! lol

A big chunk of S. Fargo lost power. MSUM has been conserving evergy so it isn't lights out for all F-M. And ICY ROADS SUCK!
