Vote for Rowley in Feingold's Progressive Patriot Poll!
She's currently leading in this poll. Whichever candidate has the most votes at midnight on December 14th will be awarded a $5000 contribution from the Progressive Patriots Fund for their congressional campaign.

Please give this a kick and a nomination, too!

Help Russ Feingold

When Russ Feingold founded the Progressive Patriots Fund almost a year ago, he did so in part to help Democrats get elected at every level. Now, he’s looking to the grassroots to help him select a Congressional challenger to support for the 2006 election. Vote for your favorite candidate and whichever candidate has the most votes at midnight on December 14th will be awarded a $5000 contribution from the Progressive Patriots Fund. The Progressive Patriots Fund hopes to repeat this event for other races throughout 2006, so after you vote, please consider making a contribution so that we can continue to support great candidates.

1. Done
I was at a fundraiser in October in Burnsville that Feingold spoke at. On the way out, I wound going down the stairs with Coleen Rowley. When we got to the bottom of the staircase, Feingold was in an alcove having pictures taken. Someone called to Rowley that she should have her picture taken with him and Feingold said "I have to have MY picture taken with Coleen Rowley."

12. Why Rowley?
I see four of the candidates in a close race. I don't know any of them. And as important as Feingold is to me, I do not want to make an uninformed decision. And to do that would take me at least half a day worth of looking at their websites, Googling, et cetera.

Clue me in to what makes Rowley so worthy of my vote.

It really feels good to see all of these bright people running for office. What a wonderful sight.

13. I will give you something to think about
Do you appreciate leaders who are willing and strong enough to speak out for people even when they know they will be viciously attacked for it?

How do you feel about universal health care and civil rights? Do you think our government should be made up of public servants rather than party puppets?

Those are the things Coleen Rowley stands for.

People who demand integrity and accountability from their elected officials would respect Rowley.

In addition, she is running against a Bushbot and we would dearly love to replace that seat in Congress with a true progressive, not another centrist or a Republican.

Rowley is among the new breed of candidates we should want to put in the Congress, not another rubber-stamper who goes along with whatever their corporate masters say. She's intelligent and she's a professional with some unique insights into how the FBI works that could be helpful in making that arm of government more accountable.

Rowley is approaching this race with the same concerns many Americans have:

* The need to end our occupation of Iraq.

* The need to address our health care, poverty, and economic crises.

* The need to be represented!

14. Thanks. That's very much what I thought.
I'm more optimisic than I've been in a very long time. I hope the American people wake up. Well, I mean, we are waking them up.

17. Kick!
I see that Rowley and Courage are tied right now.

Courage won the vote for the DFA All-Stars if I recall. I think he's a great candidate as well, but we need this, too.

18. Vote for a marine or an FBI agent.
Disclaimer: I heard Rowley speak awhile back, and she made some sense. If I lived in that district (I don't) I surely would vote for her over the carpetbagger Kline any day.

However, when she spoke, she said something like "the people are going to have to choose between voting for an ex-FBI agent and an ex-marine."

On hearing that, the first thought that flashed in my head: choose one form of the establishment or another. Both categories of people are stereotypically rightwing. That's not much of a choice.

But like I said, she's still a much better choice than Kline, and Vets for Peace, MN was backing her. So, please, vote for Rowley.

The thing I'm saying is: I don't know really how "left" she is. She doesn't seem like a foaming at the mouth fascist, like republicans these days. So that is a bonus.

19. She is a common sense born again progressive
She fully admits to her history of voting republican including voting for W in 2000. But she subsequently went through something of a conversion experience post 9/11, and her views on geopolitical affairs are apparently too radical for the DCCC, since they are green lighting more moderate DFL candidates to compete against her.

20. She strikes me that way as well
As an FBI employee, she needed to support the Admininstration throughout several leadership changes. That comes with any job. But she didn't deny the truth when it became evident.

I think she was very very brave in taking on the feds as a whistleblower. Just think. Most people won't even challenge their bosses in non-controversial jobs because they are worried about repercussions.

25. While Coleen didn't win, Feingold is still contributing an amt to her
campaign. Maybe next time.
It would be good if only one candidate per state was competing!
________________________________________________________

I am excited to announce that you have chosen John Courage to be our first Progressive Patriot. John is a terrific candidate running in the Texas 21st. He's running to protect social security from privatization, to bring affordable health care to all Americans, and to make our country a leader in alternative energy. He's a veteran who wants to bring our troops home safely, and a teacher who will work to improve public education. I'm proud to call John Courage a Progressive Patriot, and based on your recommendation we will contribute $5,000 to his campaign for Congress. You can find out more about John at his website, http://www.courageforcongress.org .

With so many deserving candidates competing in this online voting event, it is difficult to support only the candidates receiving the most votes, so we have also decided to make smaller contributions to each of the other ten candidates. I hope that you will also consider financially supporting these great candidates in the future.

Because of the overwhelming response to this event, we hope to do similar events several times over the coming year. There are many other strong democratic candidates running in 2006 who deserve our support. I am committed to doing everything I can to help elect more democrats across the country, but I need your financial help if we are to be effective. Please consider making a contribution today, so that we may continue to help to support these candidates through the Progressive Patriots Fund.

Sincerely,

Russ Feingold
