Wellstone Supporters...

You might find it interesting that the name "Paul Wellstone" was brought up pretty frequently by the Iowa U.S. House candidate for the 4th District, Paul Johnson during a fundraiser he had after the 4th District convention.

Paul (whose district is on the Minnesota border) seems to be the 'real deal' when it comes to progressive issues - take a look at his website and throw a little support his way when you can. (Esp. you folks in Southern Minnesota!)

2. My wife knows the family

and thinks the world of Paul. I met him years ago and found him a kind and gentle, yet powerful man. He has a long and distinguished career of doing what is best for Iowa. He's spent time in Washington, he's been Director of the Iowa DNR and is a good steward of the land. Iowa would be well served by this guy and comparisons to Wellstone are spot on.

3. Very Cool!

Also, there's a VERY strong Wellstone-esque fellow named Joe Mayer running against Gil Gutknecht in Minnesota's 1st district, which follows along the MN-IA border. I don't have any more info on him right now, but we can certainly use another member of the House Progressive Caucus in DC!!!!
