Ron Paul banners
We were at the warehouse district in Minneapolis, had sinful - in taste and cost - sandwiches at Be'Wiched. And as we were driving on Washington Ave. and 5th St., I think, from the corner of my eye I noticed several Ron Paul banners. Did not notice whether they were on utility poles or others.

2. I've seen some in the Maple Grove / Rogers area
Along 94. Love him or hate him Ron Paul is bringing a lot of new folks into the mix. I just wonder if his supporters would move to the Democratic or gop candidate when Paul is finished.

3. Neither - they're going to move to 15-square foot shacks with typewriters to do manifestos

Libertarianism is the philosophy of giving all control over to ruthless corporations.

Ron Paul supporters are the worst kind of misinformed neo-Bolsheviks.

4. Uh... no.

Yes, because the big bad corporations don't do anything good for this country... what kind of commie kool aid have you been drinking?

That aside, I think you are a little misinformed about Libertarianism. What you describe sounds like what we have going on now, where the government is in bed with the corporations. With Libertarianism you just leave everyone the hell alone so long as they don't go and violate someone else's rights. You don't give preference to any individual or entity. That is, in theory.

6. Why?
What fun would it be posting on a forum where everyone agreed with me?

8. you think everyone here agrees with each other?
have you actually looked around a bit or did you just suddenly decide to troll in the MN forum out of the blue?

it must be lonely being a libertarian...i suppose without roads and phone lines you get kinda bored there, huh. i wonder though, did you build your own private internet tubes just so you could post on the DU today or are you scamming off the government created and funded version again.

7. Libertarians are, in general, intellectually dishonest idiots.
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 11:36 AM by ocelot
The best description I've ever heard is that they are Republicans who want to smoke pot. Most of the Libs I've run into personally are uninformed people who read "The Fountainhead" in college and were too naive or dense to realize that all Rand ever produced was a bunch of tendentious bullshit.

Libs think everything will be all hunky-dory if everybody does their thing and nothing is regulated; the "marketplace" will take care of itself. But it won't. There is no such thing as a free market; government *of necessity* controls the rules of the market -- and there would be no market without government. Without a structure -- that is, a regulatory framework and a court system to enforce it -- the market simply cannot function.

And Libs are all fine with the "I've got mine; to hell with you" philosophy until they need something from that awful ol' government. Hurt on the job? Where's my workers' comp money? Lost their job? Where's my unemployment compensation? House on fire, car got stolen? Fire department and police better be there right damn now.

I have no use for Libertarians; they have no clue about much of anything. And Ron Paul can go screw himself. By the way, Paul is intellectually dishonest even for a lib; he's against government regulation of mostly everything except abortion. But the government has to stop women from exercising their right to reproductive freedom.

Best (and funniest, ever) summary of Randianism here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=389&topic_id=1481845
