Dear Katherine Kersten,
After reading
your column today I was impressed by your incredible optimism. You argued that all the people that are losing their homes to foreclosure should be happy and keep that glass half full attitude because as you said in your column “we’re reminded that our greatest resource is a ‘glass half full’ perspective that says that a garage is a mansion.”
I know that you are a person that practices what you preach Katherine, and so I decided to help you live your dreams by looking up some garages that are available for rental around the Twin Cities area for you. As you said in your column today, you truly believe that a garage is just like a mansion and I am sure you will be thrilled to have the opportunity to move your family out of your current home if you can get a mansion for a mere $79 a month in rent.
That’s right Katherine in St. Paul they are renting out a 10’ X 20’ garage, or as you would refer to it a luxury mansion, for a mere $79 a month. I don’t think it has any plumbing, but that is OK because after reading your column today it is clear that you can be happy with what you were given. But just to help show you goodwill I will even try to talk to the owner of the garage and see if he would be willing to include a free bucket when you decide to rent from him, that way you can make your own little rest room in the corner. Yes, Katherine you will be able to sit on that bucket with a big smile on your face knowing that you are living just as well as the person living in a mansion.
And just think about how optimistic you can be then, you think a glass half full is good? Well a bucket holds more than a glass does, and just imagine how good you can feel when you have a bucket half full! I read in your biography that you are usually full of shit, so I am sure that bucket will be half full in no time at all. Just think of the great amount of happiness you will feel living in that garage with your bucket half full optimism guiding you and your family to recognize that they are living in luxury.
I know you are always a person that stands up for what you believe in now, and I am sure that you will be more than willing to show the world that you really believe the words you write in your column to be true. I am sure you would not even think about telling the poor that they should be happy living in their garage while you are pulling in a large income and living in some fancy home. No Katherine, I am sure you are more than willing to give up all that you have and go live in that garage, because if you say the poor should be happy living in those conditions then you will be happy too, right?
Please get in touch with me and I can help you find the garage of your dreams, I will help you find the happiness that you tell us the people who lost their homes to foreclosure should have.
Sincerely,
A Citizen
