Michele Bachmann would do away with ALL federal energy permitting and regulations
Under her proposed Emergency Energy Cut-the-Red-Tape Now Act legislation federal officials would be allowed to open the Arctic National Wildlife Area Refuge in Alaska, the outer continental shelf, and streamline the refinery application process, explains Bachmann’s office.

Additionally if the price of a barrel of oil hits $100, federal authorities would be required to waive leasing and permitting regulations.

As future congressman El Tinklenberg notes, is Stillwater ready for a new oil refinery with no regulations?

3. She is just following orders from above
Rep Kline was on KARE yesterday pushing the same thing, but his photo op was at Red Wing's nuclear power plant. He also wants the Yucca Mountain red tape pushed aside and we can bury the waste in the short term and never worry about it again. :puke:

Minnesota Congressman John Kline visited a refinery and several power plants in the 2nd District Monday in a tour designed to highlight the need to attack the energy crunch on several fronts.
...
"We cannot solve the energy shortage just by drilling," Kline remarked.

And yet he does endorse more off-shore drilling in the outer continental shelf, and tapping into buried oil reserves in Alaska's Artic National Wildlife Refuge.
....
"I have been frustrated as have been many people because we haven't been building new nuclear power plants," Kline said as he stood near twin reactor towers, "This needs to be part of the equation."
