I thought Franken did well. Coleman was as slimy and elusive as always, but seemed to be stuck in the past as far as his style and substance. He seemed to imagine that this was a climate similar to that of the past eight years--that simplistic "tax cuts = jobs" and "I'm for bipartisanship!" without evidence will pull in voters. The reality of course is that voters don't have anywhere near the same concerns they did previously, and the well-studied bromides of yesteryear just aren't going to have the same impact anymore. Peripheral issues and narratives are for election years were there are no major issues catapulted to prominence by popular concern. That's not the climate this year, and that's a great thing for Al.
