Senator Klobuchar Waffles and Waits
http://www.minnpost.com/stories/2009/09/02/11278/klobuchar_franken_outline_specifics_on_their_health-care_views

When is Senator Klobuchar going to commit to a strong public option?

When Minnesota's rank and file Democrats stand up and demand it!

County Democratic Party organizations around the country are telling their Senators and Reps that if they don't support a strong public option, they're not going to get any more support.

Check out the resolution recently passed by the Broomfield County Dems in Colorado....

Namby-pamby Democrats like Amy Klobuchar won't see the light until she feels the heat.

1. But don't worry, Amy will make sure you only spend three hours on a parked airplane
That's her idea of being an "effective" senator. Come back and ask my opinion in 2012, Amy.

2. Hey c'mon now. Cut her some slack.
It's hard work fighting the Tarmac Terrorists.

I didn't vote for her in 2006 because I pegged her as a sellout from the get-go. Heh, she didn't want my opinion then and I'm sure she doesn't want it now. ;)

3. I knew she wouldn't be good, but I honestly didn't expect her to be this bad
I did have the sense to support Ford Bell until he dropped out. - Actually, what made me support him was his performance at the State Central Committee meeting right before the caucuses in 2006. Patty Wetterling dropped out of the Senate race at that and the leadership immediately made it clear that Klobuchar was their candidate (which they aren't suppose to do until there is an endorsement).

Bell got up on stage on made it clear he was still in the race and didn't much care for what was going on. He was obviously angry, but very controlled and I was so impressed to see a Democrat with a spine that I immediately decided to support him. (I had picked up some of his literature on the way into the meeting and it was clear he is a progressive so my support wasn't just based on his ability to stand up on his own).

The other thing that was a real turn off at that meeting was that even before it started Klobuchar's staff was serously hostile to anyone who wasn't supporting her.

7. Wow, that's interesting.
"Klobuchar's staff was seriously hostile to anyone who wasn't supporting her."

Why does that not surprise me? They knew their candidate sucked so they resorted to the bully routine. Typical.

Klobuchar was the DFL leadership's pick from the start. Wetterling and Bell wouldn't have sold us up the river so of course the DFL couldn't have either one of them getting in.

8. Not just the DFL leadership
The DSCC (Schumer was running it then) picked her and, I assume, the DNC was behind her as well. I think the state party leadership was "just following orders" - not that that excuses them.
