Billions in debt, massive state layoffs, and Tom Bakk wants a Vikings stadium
Kiss this big-headed Iron Ranger's governor chances goodbye:

"Over the next 30 to 60 days we'll start to see this play out," Bagley said. "Right now, there is a lot of good work going on. As we get into the (legislative) session and into the spring, these things will surface in due time, at the appropriate time"...

Sen. Tom Bakk, DFL-Cook, who chairs the Senate Tax Committee and is running for governor, said he would like to see a deal get done.

"The question is, can you get the right pieces put together that will get public support?" said Bakk, who also predicted the stadium issue would loom over the governor's race once football season gets under way in the fall.

1. Well, he'll be wasting his time calling me for support in the caucuses

and state convention this year. No public money for private sports team facilities. That's an absolute for me.

Kelliher has come out against public funding for a stadium.

2. Makes sense in the Iron Range
There are many Vikings fans up there. They will like him for his stance on trying to keep the team in his State Senate District and should make for a more secure seat. Don't underestimate the reach of sports.

3. I want a Vikings stadium also
some of us are fans and there has to be a way to do it. Other states do.

4. There is a way--let the billionaires pay for it themselves
No government has ever offered to build me a billion-dollar facility so I can get even more fabulously wealthy.

10. Exactly.
Pretty simple, isn't it?

I used to be a huge Vikes fan but their incessant crying for a new stadium on the taxpayer's dime has turned me off to them completely. Same with the Twins. They can both suck it as far as I'm concerned.

9. And I want a polo field
IMHO anyone who cares which billionaires team wins is crazy as a loon.

5. That's a deal-breaker for me.
I will absolutely NOT support any candidate who wants taxpayers to foot the bill for Ziggy Wilf's stadium. If the Vikings want a new one they can pay for it, like any other business.

11. +1.
Marty has consistently stood against public funding for stadiums. That's enough to get my vote.

6. Based on this article, it's either Marty or a Republican if you don't want to pay for a stadium
http://www.twincities.com/ci_14251046

Pretty sad lot of DFLers who are willing to throw a billion dollars at a football stadium when we're facing massive multibillion-dollar deficits, schools are cutting budgets, kids are going hungry, the roads suck, bridges are falling down and homes are being foreclosed upon. Don't let the double talk from the candidatesfool you either--you know, "I'll take a wait and see approach," or "This isn't the right time to talk about a new stadium" (so when is the right time--after the election?), or "I support it if it doesn't cost too much." That's all code for "You betcha, I'll support tax dollars for the Vikings!"

7. Thanks for bringing up the stadium issue
I definitely do not want to see tax dollars used to support a stadium. There are so many important things to do--improve the education of our young, for example, so they and we have decent future. It is too bad about Bakk being a stadium fan. I was thinking about supporting him until I learned this.

I should mention too that looking at Dayton's Facebook page is worth your time. It is apparent on there that Dayton's campaign staff consists of 20-somethings. Could there be some age discrimination there? Especially now when there a thousands upon thousands of unemployed individuals in their 50 and 60's.

Then too, Dayton web site does not even have completed issue pages. For example, he says he's all for creating jobs (who isn't?) but for the details on how he plans to do this, he advises the read to check back later. LOL One wonders if Dayton has lost it a bit.

Rybak seems to have some problems to me too. Mainly his water fountains and the individuals with whom he surrounds himself. They seem like an elitist and unfriendly crowd that looks down their noses at mere mortals.

And, of course, Kelleher, Kelley, Entenza, etc., all have severe liabilities.

I have not decided who I will support.

8. Age discrimination? No
The reality is most campaigns have staffers in their 20s from events

I have been too. Lot of commitment so you tend to get younger unmarried people without children and other commitments.
