Action alert - jump all over this one at the Trib
Pat Shortridge is taking shots at Dayton. The same Pat Shortridge that led Mark Kennedy to a 20 point loss against Klobuchar.

1. Thanks for the heads-up. Here's my contribution:
Mark Dayton certainly is a rarity in politics...
one who acts on principle rather than the whims of public opinion. Perhaps his actions were misguided, but they pale in comparison to the crimes committed by others during the previous administration. I'll take Mark Dayton over a self-serving poll-watcher any day.

The Repubs lost interest in this one in a hurry. :bounce:

3. This is what I posted there
I thought he was trying to call the Bush administration's bluff on the way it used "threats"

As I recall, Bushco was having one of it's "all terra all the time" spasms when this happened; trying to pretend that D.C. just wasn't safe and make sure everyone stayed frightened (conveniently, right before an election & strange how the threats evaporated afterward). Given the way they lied us into Iraq it would hardly be surprising if they also lied about potential threats.

The fact is, and this cannot be stressed strongly enough, CONGRESS WAS IN RECESS and Bush was back at his "ranch". Dayton was the only one who decided that, if it was so terribly dangerous, it wasn't right to leave his staff in D.C. when he and his fellow members of Congress were all safely out of town. Mark Dayton did not run away - he would have been back in Minnesota anyway, even if there had been no threats (real or invented by Bush). He chose to keep his staff out of harm's way.

God forbid we have a governor who thinks of others.

4. I'm glad he and others are harping about this now
It'll be history and people will be sick of it and tune it out in a couple weeks.
