Jeb Bush tells MN GOP how to bring MN education 'up to' FL standards
Minnesota Democrats say education reforms former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush pushed for in his state won't work here.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is telling Minnesota lawmakers about education reforms he says have driven up test scores in his state's schools.

But Rep. Mindy Greiling, a Democrat from Roseville, responds that Minnesota's schools significantly outperform Florida's, particularly in scores on the ACT test.

Bush walked legislators through several policies that he says increased both scores and graduation rates in Florida, particularly for minority students.

1. I imagine the way to do this would be for all the state's schools to make a large investment in
Neil's software. :sarcasm:

2. Let's compare: MN vs. FL
http://minnesota.publicradio.org/collections/special/columns/news_cut/archive/2011/04/why_would_minnesota_want_to_be.shtml

OK, we'll concede the ave. temperature...(but we like the change of seasons)

Otherwise, WHY would MN want to be like FL, especially in education?! We LEAD.

Also, MN has a $5.2 BILLION budget to resolve, and here's the MN GOP working on:

1. Dumbing down MN so it's like FL (why not go whole hog and invite Haley Barbour up here too?)
2. Constitutional amendment about gay marriage
3. Constitutional amendment about states ability to nullify federal law
4. Voter ID = voter suppression
5. Making incest victims get a judge's order to get medical attention without parental/molester consent
...

there is a long list.

Apparently, tomorrow is Gun Rights Day at the Capitol. NRA emailing up a storm to get their supporters out.

Where are the jobs? Where is the balanced, fair budget?

3. If adopted this POS will have little affect on the well monied
suburban school districts, those affected will be outstate rural districts and the Twin Cities districts that are already so struggling that they can not afford text books for all their students

4. Sounds like they want to try a end run around Education Minnesota
Since Dayton is keeping any push like happened in WI here. Vouchers and web based learning are two major ways to undermine Education Minnesota.
