This is totally random and off Topic but...
My boyfriend and I are looking to possibly move to Minneapolis (downtown) We currently live in downtown St Paul, but my brother lives in Mpls and my cousins are moving there soon and we thought it would be fun to live in the "big city" for a while and all be close. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as places to live actually downtown? Thanks in advance.

Erin

1. I don't live downtown so I don't know
Perhaps other DUers here know of good places. There is a Lund's going up next year at Hennepin and 12th, so that might be a consideration. Good luck!

2. don't live downtown either
but there are lots of new lofts and townhouses going up on the river not far from the Light Rail line. I expect they are pricey being on the river, but if you are willing to locate a little further out, check out the area on N. Washington, over the river in St. Anthony Falls neighborhood, or down by Loring Park or someplace along the Greenway (my favorite downtown place to walk).

I would favor the Uptown neighborhood because there are lots of new lofts and such being built on the Greenway. It depends on your lifestyle choices, what do you want to be near? entertainment, places to walk, skate, good views, do you have kids?

Good luck

5. Try the warehouse district
There are tons and tons of new condos and refurbished warehouses going up. Between the river and Washington Ave.

I used to work right at 800 N. Washington and some really nice condos were going up.

Uptown's not far from downtown and there are some really nices place in that hood.
