Erlandson: How much longer will he be around?
Is there a limit to how long he can be DFL chair? If not, do we have to wait until he steps down, or does his position ever come up for review? How is a new chair chosen?

1. They choose at the convention, every four years
IIRC his term is up in 2006. Also there are not term limits for the position, either.

2. actually his term is up this spring
The central committee will have a 2005 Business Conference between April 1 and June 20, 2005 and will elect state party officers for two year terms. The state directors were elected at the state convention, not the party officers. Check out page 15 of the 2004-2005 call . . .

If he leaves or we force him out, who is the best person to replace him?

5. Does anyone else think it may be time to make the Chair
a full time, paid position?

And, has anyone heard about anyone who may be thinking of going for the position?

8. IMHO it needs to be full time
Erlandson has done a good job, considering he also works full time for Martin Sabo, and is a father of a newborn. I can only imagine the kind of hours he put in during September and October.

With the influx of new blood in the DFL, we could certainly afford to pay the chair a stipend of some sort. People would be willing to pay for a full-time chair.

My $.02 is all :hi:

9. I agree.
I think Mike has done a good job and has worked hard, especially considering he's a volunteer. Pretty unbelievable actually.

But it's a new day and we need to change the direction of the party. I wouldn't be surprised if he helped us.

7. erlandson says he's done
at least that was what he was saying last spring. I haven't heard of anyone step up to the plate, but many are talking about it being a paid position.
