So now that Dayton is not running what is the DFL doing to fill the seat? Any ideas? I have only really head discussion about a DFL candidate here at the DU or a quick blurb in the paper. If Kennedy is already out campaigning shouldn't we get our guy or gal moving? Does anybody know when the primary takes place? Fill me in you guys!

I shudder at the thought of us not getting on the ball fast enough and basically handing Kennedy the seat. In fact I may puke at the thought.

Demrock6, always asking questions!

3. Franken may run in 2008 against Coleman.
Dayton's seat will be open in 2006.

4. Rep. Betty McCollum expressed interest early on.
http://www.mccollum.house.gov I'd support her. She's been solid on some key votes.

I'm going to DEM meet up in March - on the 8th in Uptown, MN.
Do you have one of those in your area? You might find it faster on the DU, but you'd have to wade a bit.

5. Not sure, but
It makes me mad to see him campaigning already for the Senate seat when he was just elected to his House seat. Apparently, since he's given his 'two years notice' he no longer has to do his job. He should step down now and let Patty take the seat that should have been hers, so he can concentrate on campaigning full time.

6. don't panic, it's still a year and a half to the primary
and a year to caucuses. dfl candidates who announce in the next few months still have plenty of time to raise money and compete.

7. I just don't want to loose ground.
Perhaps the best thing we can do is attack Kennedy. If he comes off as a crap candidate maybe people will look for the other option, whom ever that may be.
