What do you think of Amy Klobuchar for US Senate?
This is what wikipedia says (at the time of this posting):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Klobuchar

Amy Klubuchar is an is an American politician and attorney. She is currently the Hennepin County, Minnesota Attorney. She was first elected in 1998. She was re-elected in 2002 with no opposition, and has very high approval ratings in Hennepin County.

She is considered a favorite for the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party nomination in 2006 for the U.S. Senate seat current held by Mark Dayton. Dayton announced in early 2005 that he will not seek re-election.

In 2001 she was selected "Attorney of the Year" by Minnesota Lawyer.

Klobuchar was president of the Minnesota County Attorneys Association (http://www.mcaa-mn.org/) from 2001 to 2003.

1. I would vote for her
She appeals to many moderates. Being a woman would also help her with most of the state. She is competent and would hold herself pretty well as she goes through a campaign.

Now, the question is being a County Attorney, what type of mud could the GOP dig up to try to discredit her? I am sure they could find something, distort it and try to use it against her.

As of now Kloburchar is the best Senate canidiate and Wetterling would be the best for the 6th (against Bachmann or Yecke).

On a side note, is there anybody in the 2nd who can beat Kline?

2. I like her too. I think she'd make an excellent candidate.
Patty Wetterling would be superb as well.

I'd be overjoyed with either nomination.

4. I like her, but does everyone agree that she is a "favorite"

already?

I hate it when people are so presumptuous to make these claims. Do we really know that? Has then been a poll of Democrats? I would like to hear something from all the candidates before crowning someone so early.

edit: Right now she is my favorite because she is a known progressive. :-) But we need to hear from everyone, don't we?

8. Um, let's talk about REAL candidates instead
...not the ones who you think should run.

Neither Daschle or Rowley have expressed ANY interest in a run for Dayton's seat. It's also highly unlikely that either of them ever will, either.

Just because I want the Dalai Lama to be our next senator does not mean he's running for the job. :eyes:

11. "What Would You Like On Your Tombstone?"
...seeing as how neither of them have expressed any interest in running.

10. I like her, too.
In fact, I talked to her today and will probably get involved with her campaign. I think she has the best chance of beating Mark Kennedy of anyone who's been metioned so far. Patty Wetterling has a sympathetic reputation, and she's known to be a good organizer, but because of her relative lack of political campaign experience maybe she should either run for Congress or wait til '08. Klobuchar has been an excellent county attorney, and her having been a prosecutor insulates her a lot better from the "trial lawyer" canard the Repubs are likely to throw at Mike Ciresi. Others who have been mentioned, like Daschle and Rowley, have not even indicated an interest in running. Daschle is tainted as spineless and ineffective, and I've never heard so much as a whisper of interest on Rowley's part. Let's stick with people who both want to run and are capable of winning. Klobuchar meets both criteria.
