MS Legislature -- no sex offenders within 5 miles of schools, daycare...
Mississippi Legislature Bill Status

I haven't seen this reported in the MSM, but this is regarding a bill introduced by the MS legislature.

MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE

By: Representative Carlton
House Bill 756

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 45-33-25, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROHIBIT SEX OFFENDERS FROM ESTABLISHING RESIDENCY NEAR SCHOOLS, DAY CARE CENTERS, PARKS OR CERTAIN OTHER AREAS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

<cut>

1. That'll pretty much keep them out of the state, completely
No way will this one pass constitutional muster.

2. ok, that is just plain silly
five miles? 'or other area where children MAY be present'? hell, children MAY be present anywhere. so, where do they expect these folks to live? i don't approve of this idea at all. it seems like a slippery slope to me. doesn't the constitution have freedom of mobility in it? these restrictions could easily be imposed on other people. political enemies for example.

3. I agree this is extreme
but so many people were supportive of the measures in Miami and elsewhere that would have seen similar restrictions (though not quite as severe).

I can't think of anywhere in the state they could live -- and even if they could, what's to keep a daycare from opening up in 6 months and making them leave?

4. Well, I'm sure passing the law will make people feel good
Enforcing it will be impossible, because there is probably a school, a park, a day care center within 5 miles of just about anywhere.

7. Children "may" be present anywhere

9. Der zustand mississippi bill status
WERE IS THE FIRE?

Is this 1932-1945 or is this 2008? Is this Nazi Germany or is
this United States of America? Is our government the Nazi
Party? When I here all those trust worthy politicians spouting
all their rhetoric, I close my eyes and imagination them
speaking German. I can see the swastikas, the raised hands at
45 degrees. I can hear the siege heiles and crowds cheering in
full agreement. I’m back in Nazi Germany!
When the Nazi’s were seizing power they had several
objectives. Two of the main objectives were the destruction of
the Weirmer Constitution and racial purity. To be fare Germany
was recovering from loosing WWI, they were in a depression,
unemployment was about 35 %, and the Weimer Democracy and
Constitution were very young. All of that, made the Democracy
and Constitution vulnerable to attack.
The big question was. How do you abolish a Constitution witch
guarantees peoples freedoms and liberties and have those very
same people cheer you on as you do it? And achieve racial
purity at the same time. The Nazi’s final solution, they
lied and lied and lied and then they lied some more. By using
the media and a massive propaganda campaign they spread their
lies throughout Germany. And the people began to buy their
lies, hook, line, and sinker.
The Undesirables were the first victims of the Nazi’s. The
sickly, mentally ill, criminals and even elderly were
classified as undesirable. The undesirables were German
citizens; they were the first to go before the Jews. They were
the test bed on how to handle the Jewish question best.
A lie told once is still a lie, a lie told ten times starts
to become believable, a lie told fifty times is no longer a
lie. This is how the Nazi’s worked. This is how they slowly
convinced the people of a whole nation that certain groups of
people don’t deserve their constitutional rights. Criminals
were the easiest targets to strip of their Constitutional
rights. The lies came easily for this group of people. Laws
were easily passed circumventing the Constitution and were
upheld as constitutional by the high courts. The lies kept
flying, the propaganda kept flowing and the people kept right
on cheering. New laws were passed with greater restrictions on
freedom of movement. New prisons were built (they called them
CONCENTRATION CAMPS). The Nazi’s even made public list of
criminals (who they were, where they lived, and crimes
committed) to be posted for all to see. These techniques were
refined, added onto and then used on the Jewish people.
DOSE ANY OF THIS LOOK FAMILIAR?
BY MID 1933 THE WEIRMER CONSTITUTION; BY ALL RIGHTS, WAS
ABOLISHED AND REPLACED WITH A DICTATORSHIP!
Always seek the truth! Be careful about what you cheer for!

Politicians are the last place you would ever look to find the
truth.

10. Didn't Iowa try to do that, and it got struck down?
That law has the effect of forcing them to leave the state, or making it impossible for them to comply with the law, thereby ensuring that they go back to prison.

11. Residency Restrictions
Proven, by countless professionals, Residency Restrictions do NOT work.
We need a whole lot of new laws, but primarily, we need to rid this country of all the IDIOTIC laws now in place pertaining to Sex Offender Registries, and Residency Restrictions.
