Paper Ballots, Paper Trail, e-vote Questions

Greetings from the Election Reform/2004 Forum

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=203

On this thread, we've been working on figuring out:

Which States Have Existing Law or Pending Bills for VVP Ballots or Trails
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x348377

Your state is listed as having existing law regard the use of paper.

Can anyone please point me to that Law, or any Pending Legislation for Voter Verified Paper Ballots (VVPB) or Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT)?

Do you folks have DRE's (Direct Recording Electronic), the nasty e-vote stuff? If so do they, at least provide a paper trail?

This article, by DUer GaryBeck, will help explain the important differences.

Thank You!

1. Our SoS &"Paper Ballots, Paper Trail, e-vote Questions"
As of 3-29-2005, I have heard from the SoS office that Missouri, before the 1-1-2006 HAVA deadline will be using V.V.P.A.T. No vendor picked, no machine, no dealine before 1-1-2006. But VVPAT records that will never see the light of day, and no pending legislation to implement voting on these machines

Most disturbing of all is that the SoS has a man (presumably a holdover from Blunt) named Mark F. "Thor" Hearne on her Statewide Database/ Provisional Voting/ Voter Identification Subcommittee.

The same "Thor" Hearne who testified for AC4VR.com as a general counsel for this "Voter's Rights Group" (which had been in existence some four days, existing on a Go Daddy web site) and living in one of Bobby Eberle's Texas Mail Boxes, one with little bitty Swift Boats sailing inside. He was the *only* "Voter's Rights" person to testify for Rep. Bob Ney's Committee on Ohio Vote Fraud. Grooooan!

See datails at BradsBlog: http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00001281.htm#comments

My question about our Dem SoS, is "Who's on First?" Or, maybe, just "Did the MO. Dem Party just default this game to Diebold"?

2. That's ugly.
What happened to Blunt?

Did he ruffle feathers?

By Order of the Secretary of State

3. Blunt was "e-Promoted"
As SoS, Blunt certified his own election in 2004. It's an advantage when you count your own ballots. Our analysis shows Claire McCaskill won by 2%

"Thor" Hearne was Blunt's general counsel... and chief spokesman, apparently, for the reign of the machines. A Diebold machine was used (no paper trail) in Jefferson County, MO on the 4-6-2006 election when there were supposed to be punch cards machines still up.

The SoS has holdovers from Blunt... and is keeping them. But a guy with connections to Bobby Eberle, and was using the same mail box as "Jeff Gannon" at the same time? Sure sounds like the SoS is "in the right" on this one.

"Right" in the (greased?) palms of the machine vendors. Where is the State legislation for this? Maybe she should just change parties, like Sen. Ben "Nighthorse" Campbell (D-then-R CO) did.

Well, Gannon is on a panel at the Press Club on Friday. Maybe he can tell use how big the Hammer is that "Thor" swings at Dems in Mo. And at whom.
