They're afraid of what???

Proposal would ban cell phones in voting booths

"A bill that Rep. Jim Viebrock will introduce in the Legislature would make it an election offense to use an electronic device to transmit information about your vote. That’s vague or broad language that's aimed at cell phones.

Struckhoff fears the phones could be used in a vote-buying scheme. He fears people will take a picture of their ballot to prove they voted for a certain candidate or issue -- in order to be paid for their votes."

Seems to me that taking a photo might be the ONLY way to verify your voting record. Yet, they say the ban is to prevent someone from "selling" their vote.

Should photographing your vote be allowed?

another scenario is voter intimidation, in other words, SHOW me you voted for so and so, or you die. That type of thing is definitely a possibility. The problem is that photographing your vote is probably not considered a valid, legal, way to verify it, the best case scenario is, of course, a hard copy, the original, in a ballot box, without any way for it to be traced to you, outside which voting location was used.
