The fate of Westport Flea Market
Kansas City DUers, rejoice!

An ad in the new Pitch for Westport Flea Market says this:

Monday, March 6th
Grand Re-Opening
New Owner.
Same Westport Flea Market.


And there's a drawing of an owl in a circle with a slash through it.

Sooooo . . . it's staying open. And--no freaking Hooters!

Hell yeah!

Just weeks ago, Westport's beloved "Flea" was facing the wrecking ball and a future as a Hooters.

That deal not only fell through, but the new owner of the Westport Flea Market and Bar & Grill doesn't plan to change a thing.

Joe Zwillenberg, owner of Joe Joe's Italian Eatery and Joe's Burger Joint on Main Street, purchased the operation at 817 Westport Road from Mel Kleb II for an undisclosed price.

"I'm a midtown guy and love this area," Zwillenberg said. "For 25 years it has offered the best product at a great price and consistent service. At 11 a.m. on Tuesday or at 11:45 p.m. on Friday you get the same food. I want to carry on the tradition."

6. We try to get the round one in the corner
But we can't get a round table unless we have at least 4 people. Sometimes we do but other times there are only 2 or 3 of us who show up at 7:00 so we have to take a smaller table.

Evl is hosting a St. Pat's party at his house for our March meetup. Why don't you and your lovely wife join us?
