1. I was there
There were about 50 of us. We got spit at, and I was called a baby killer. I had my Obama shirt on, my Obama pin, and my pin of my son Christopher, who was hit and killed on his bicycle on November 8, 2007. He was 17. I've never seen a bigger gathering of knuckle-dragging mouth breathers anywhere, but then again, it is Lee's Summit. I grew up there, and know all too well what exists in that city. We had a very vocal and spirited group there today, and it was good to stand on the 'right' side of the road, together. When I went to hear Obama speak here in Independence, there were only 5-10 Repubs there protesting. So we really outnumbered them from a protest standpoint. I was proud to be there, especially today, the 10 month anniversary of my son's murder. I know he wanted me there today, as he stood right beside me like he always does.

I am so disappointed with the people of Lee's Summit.

3. I am so, so, so sorry about your son.
And how brave of you to be in Lee's Summit protesting and doing what is right after only ten months. I would not be able to if I were in your shoes, and I admire you.

People in and around Lee's Summit have been very receptive to Obama's message, so I've been told, and that's why the campaign just opened an office there: to bring over supporters from the GOP's base.

Thank you for being out there today!

4. Thank you for your words
I'm happy to see the office in LS, considering how red it is there. I hope they are able to bring in some undecided voters. I have done a little bit here in Independence, and intend to try and do more at our office on the Square.
Chris would have been 18 in May, and we used to have long talks about voting and the importance of it. I was going to take him his first time. I remember in 2004, as we sat together and watched Obama give the key note at the DNC, I told Chris, "that man will be President one day". And I still believe it. I have to; even though my Chris is gone now, I still want the country we will have if Obama is elected. I want it for Chris's friends and for my son Ryan. I want it for all Americans, a country we can be proud of.

7. Chris will be watching and cheering when Barack wins on election day.
(now I'm in tears)

5. Newbie needs help...
I can not start a new post on here yet...

In Kansas City this weekend bikers for babies is going on....last year it brought over 8,000 riders or about 16,000 voters...in my opinion people that care but don't vote...how can we get people out there to help not only to encourage Dem vote but to register????

Please look at my other posts if you would like to know why this is important to me.

Thanks so much!

6. Call your nearest Obama office and make sure they are aware
of this event, and ask what you can do. The Obama offices with phone numbers and addresses are listed at barackobama.com. Look for the map of the United States and click on Missouri. I think there's also a drop down menu that lists all the states, and you can click on Missouri there also.

11. I am getting no where with this...
Wyandotte is the county that should be contacted....so Kansas excitedly says. I speak with them, after tracking a phone # because Kansas is giving the wrong one...their reply is we have so much going on this weekend....huh! An event that brings 8,000 riders and thousand more to one place that raises 3.5 million in a single day...I know I am ignorant about politics...but, that doesn't make sense.

If the mid town office is interested, give me a contact #, I haven't a clue of what, how or should be done...I simply have an idea.

Thanks for any feedback.

12. Here's a number
816 679 2973

It's one of the girls who helps run the Obama office in KC.

13. Thank you for going
I am one of the working stiffs who had to be at work wondering how it was going. I really appreciate it when people like you go to these events I would give so much to attend.

I am so sorry to hear about your son. He sounds like he was a wonderful kid.
