Dear Friend,
Things have certainly been busy since I announced my run for the United States Senate last month. Since then, I've been humbled and energized by the support and enthusiasm we've seen from all over Missouri. Thank you so much for your encouragement.
Even though Election Day is still many months away, the race is starting to take shape. You probably heard that Republican Roy Blunt (former Governor Matt Blunt's father and a long-time Congressman from southwest Missouri) has announced his intention to run for this Senate seat. Former State Treasurer Sarah Steelman has also publicly expressed interest in running. No matter who wins the Republican nomination, national political reporters are already sizing up our race as one to watch.
And I'm not waiting around to see what the Republicans decide, instead, I'm already traveling around the state and listening to Missourians about their thoughts and concerns. In the past few weeks, we've been in Kansas City, Hannibal, Springfield, Hazelwood, Jeff City, Rolla and Columbia. The resolve and optimism of folks, despite the economic hardships we're feeling, are a real inspiration to me.
I know this will be a tough battle, but I couldn't be more optimistic because I know we can win this race. But to succeed, I'll need your help and support every step of the way. I'll need volunteers to knock on doors and stuff envelopes, and I'll need advice and introductions to your friends and neighbors.
We'll keep sending you campaign updates and I hope you will keep in touch, too. One thing you can do now is help build our network of supporters by forwarding this message to three people you know with a personal note and ask them to sign up at www.robincarnahan.com
Thanks again for your support, and I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail soon.
- Robin
P.S. We'll be launching our new website soon with all kinds of information about the campaign. We'll let you know when it's online!
