Davison supporters ask Miller, Keating to quit race

A group of 10 supporters of GOP gubernatorial candidate Pat Davison of Billings sent letters Wednesday to two other Republican governor candidates asking that they quit the race and throw their support to Davison in Tuesday's primary election.

Taking note of a recent statewide poll of registered voters that showed 27 percent of Republicans still undecided two weeks before the election, the group asked former state Sens. Ken Miller of Laurel and Tom Keating of Billings to support Davison over the fourth candidate Bob Brown, the secretary of state.

Both Keating and Miller took offense at the suggestion.

Davison said Wednesday he was not aware of the letters and did not expect either opponent to back off.

"Both are working hard, and I would be surprised if they stopped," he said.
