Raimondo TV ad focuses on his business success
BY ROBYNN TYSVER
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

The low-key Democratic race for U.S. Senate in Nebraska may crank up a few notches as first-time contender Tony Raimondo hits the TV airwaves today.

Raimondo is the first candidate in the race to go on the air. The advertisement emphasizes his 24-year career at Behlen Mfg. Co. in Columbus.

The ad was expected to run in the Omaha, Lincoln, Hastings and Kearney markets though Sunday, said Eric Fought, Raimondo's campaign manager.

Raimondo is running against Scott Kleeb, a Hastings college teacher, for the Democratic nomination. The winner of the May 13 primary probably will challenge GOP powerhouse Mike Johanns in the fall election.

Kleeb and Raimondo both got late starts in the campaign. With the primary less than five weeks away, time is an issue as both candidates try to boost their name recognition among voters.

Money also is an issue. Kleeb and Raimondo have been busy raising cash for weeks. Federal campaign disclosure reports, covering the first quarter of the year, are due Monday .

FULL story at link.

Raimondo has given 10s of 1,000s of $ to the Rep party and candidates, right up to the moment he switched parties. I'm voting Kleeb.
