Valerie Harper said that NV has gone from red to blue
is it true or is it wishful thinking?
She was in Wisconsin yesterday and we got the opportunity to speak to her.
She was outstanding.

1. Was she the actress on the Hogan Family?
Or someone else?

5. Sort of
She was on the show when it was called 'Valarie.' But she left after a salary dispute, and the name was changed to 'Valarie's Family' (her character was killed off). Two years later the named was changed to 'The Hogan Family.'

2. Rhoda!
Man, I so had a crush on her as a little kid -- too young to even know what a crush was. When she got her own show though, my crush transferred from her to Julie Kavner who played her sister.

Good going Nevada!

3. Valerie helping
This is Goddess40'2 mom. Valerie was terrific and knows her stuff. She registers people for the vote every where she goes, even at the dry cleaners! She tours swing states on behalf of Kerry. I told her Goddess and I protest the war every Friday. When she was out the door I ran after her and asked her to say, "Oh, Mare" like she did on the Mary Tyler Moore show. She did then she came up to me, took both of my hands in hers and said, "Thank you and your daughter for what you are doing and thank you for raising your daughter like you have. You are her guiding center." I was so surprised and so moved. The only thing I have against her is she is only 2 years younger than I am but looks 20 years younger.

4. As a big fan of hers, I appreciate this whole thread!
I have a feeling there are a few red states turning to blue in this election. Permanently, let's hope. :)

7. Technically it isn't true
Registered republicans somehow still outnumber dems, but it is about as close to even as it could get. The race is still close, and it is obvious by the amount of visits here by the candidates and other campaign helpers, and add dollars dumped here, that this state is totally up for grabs, no matter what the polls may suggest. If that Republican front group hadn't thrown out all their Democratic registrations, Dems would probably have a slight lead in the state, but even that wouldn't be a good indicator because Republicans turned out in much higher numbers for the primaries(which also isn't a good indicator since they had more hotly contested primary races). Our Democratic Senator Harry Reid is a lock to retain, so that is a good thing, but he will probably get votes from people that won't vote for Kerry. Between the voter fraud, electronic voting conspiracy theories, voter intimidation, the huge surge in new voters that aren't polled as likely voters, and other dirty tricks, there is really no way to tell who will get this state. Even after the elections we will probably won't know what happened, and it won't be a very clear representation of this state in the future. The Democrats appear to have the momentum in this state even if they don't win here this time.
