Hi Nevadans!
I'm right here in the Sin City, and have been for the last 48 hours.

I'm having a good time in your fine city.

Any hotels to avoid?

Any hotels to procure?

Know any $5 Pai-Gow poker games that are 24/7.. Damn casinos keeps raising the rates constantly and to a point where I feel I cannot afford to play Pai Gow.

If you know anything and want to tell me, e-mail me at teslerd@tmail.com ANYTIME! I will answer ASAP.

Tomrorow we're supposed to visit the Coca Cola and the M&M Factory, and head back to Fremont for some Bingo. I do like playing Pai Gow there.. it's also fun watching a bunch of drunks trying to play one.

Too bad Fremont Experience is nothing like Mardi Gras. (hint)

Any suggested good eatin' for Sunday brunch?

Love to all, and Love to the fine Senator of Nevada, Harry Reid, for keeping this fine city under control.

1. Some observations from me:

Hotels to avoid: Usually the seedy "peep show" hotels on the strip between Sahara and Downtown.

Hotels:

Bellagio - fountains, conservatory, expensive shops, supposed to be good buffet;

Paris - good architectural copy for architectural buffs; nice sidewalk cafe at streeside $12 price range; supposed to be good buffet;

Alladin - nice shopping at "Desert Passage"; restaurants forgettable and too expensive for what they offer.

Wynn - surprisingly good customer service - THEY come to you to register you for their "cards" - recommend doing it upon arriving - got lots of points by playing the slots and got about 10 passes to the buffet or other restaurants; customer service like "old" Vegas; good brunch but pricey - not your usual roasted chicken and mediocre fare - most apt to describe fare as "gourmet".

Redrock - in Summerlin - way overhyped - disappointing at best - worst customer service - lots of "you can't go there" or "you shouldn't be here".

Rampart - in Summerlin - GREAT "Cigar/Martini Bar" - if you ask nice, personnell will take you on private tour of restricted/VIP areas - neat!

Fiesta - off Lake Mead in Henderson beside US95 - great little Steak House in the back out of the way - "Fuego"

Sunset Casino - Henderson - got to be the WORST buffet in town - used to be among the "best" before the remodel.

California/Freemont/Main Street Station off Fremont Street - best "Hawaiian" "saimin" noodle soup; Calfornia somewhat smokey; good "Pai Gow" in all three (lots of Hawaiian visitors)

Other Casinos on Freeemont Street - last of "old" Vegas while you can see it before they also "remodel".

Palms Casio - Accross from Rio - supposed to have KILLER good brunch and reasonable price; home of new and one and only remaining Playboy Club - only cover charge - meet the "beautiful people" celebrities there.

Best Sushi: Makino's - all you can eat for around 20 bucks on weekends, 14 during week.

Mandalay Bay: Great attractions - shark experience, nice shopping mall - great but pricey restaurants - recommend "Rum Jungle" - Argintinian flavor theme - around 8 or 9pm - eat and then stay for the nightclub without paying cover charge! Try the Argintinian 35 dollar special dinner - they bring you endless choices of great food/sides; if you can manage it - try to get into the House of Blues "Foundation Room" at the top - but you have to be a member - great Monday Nite football viewing.

Half Shell - WAY OFF Strip in Henderson - US95 & Horzon Drive exit - GREAT seafood/steaks/chops. Very small casino - but mostly it's a restaurant with some gaming.

Sunset Station, Fiesta in Henderson; California, MainStreet, Freemont in Downtown best rates for rooms.

See if you can get to the Ethel M factory in Henderson - for the free chocolate and the Christmas light display in the Cactus Garden - same venue for the OceanSpray cranberry factory.

There's a great Mexican type restaurant just over the border in Cali in Nipton - it's a one store "town" between Searchlight and the outlet malls in Primm - worth the visit - nice drive thru the Joshua Tree national park/forest - like a car commercial thru the desert highlands - they have about 6 hotel rooms and a few "tents" with pot belly stoves and private hottubs - don't know of availability but sure looked like a neat getaway...

The Mouth Charleston ski lodge was bought and is now too pricey for the fare IMO - but is might snow this weekend there!
