Social Security Birthday Party!
Social Security is turning 70 this month - that's 70 years of the most successful government anti-poverty program in our nation's history!

Come join the party:

Who: NH United to Protect Social Security (NH Citizens Alliance, NH AFL-CIO, NH Alliance of Retired Americans, NH National Association of Social Workers, NH Council of Churches, NH Women's Lobby, and NH Faithful Democracy)

What: Birthday Party! We will have birthday cake, and a giant birthday card to sign, which will be delivered to Congressman Bradley's office.

When: Monday, August 15 at 12 noon

Where: Downtown Manchester, the corner of Elm and Wall. (the Social Security office is on Wall, and Jeb Bradley's office is across the street)

Special Added Bonus: The True Majority Oreo-Mobile will be on hand to do a presentation on the federal budget.

Join us, as we celebrate and say, "Cut the cake, not benefits!"

1. Watch for new and heavier attacks on Social Security in the near future.

Don't let anyone tell you Social Security privatization is a dead deal...the republicans despise and have wanted to destroy SS for seventy years...This is their best chance...And once they have their foot in the door... It WILL slowly be destroyed as it has in so many countries in the world and the banks and corporations will have that money they've been absolutely drooling over for years.

Bush will come out of his hole in Crawford to pursue Social Security Privatization...AGAIN! They are not going to give up, the banks & investment firms. (with their huge republican donations) want & demand it, and it will also help change the daily news dialog away from this administrations other massive problems.

Count on it! They will use different tactics, this time, but they are far from giving up.

They will try and coast with another story, while at the same time getting what republicans want...To destroy SS and get their hand on all that money.

That's a major republican goal, they want and desperately need that money to keep things (economy) afloat, as well as for their insatiable greed.

(Remember not one, not one republican voted for Social Security seventy years ago and not one republican now wants to see it work...its socialism to them greedy bastards).

And anything short of a major attack on Iran and/or Marshall Law...Its becomes their best move.

To get us (and the media) focused elsewhere, anywhere, while they get their smelly greedy selfish foot in the SS door.

2. right you are
LaPera - which is why it is so important to keep the issue in the public eye. Birthay parties are being held in at least 36 states - so look for them, and join the fun.

I urge everyone to keep the pressure on their Reps and Senators, too. This is too important to allow the right to win. If SS goes, it will take decades of work to repair, and trillions of dollars.
