1. What's up with Diebold in Jersey?
I still pull a curtain and push a lever here. Any shenanigans going on here?

8. Still remains to be seen but I'm not encouraged with the FEC's
dog slow investigations in Bergen Co when in every Nov. since 1996. Voter irregularities are common. Over all NJ looks ok but looks can be deceiving as I am seeing an increasing number of Diebold vans on Rt 33 heading west toward Trenton.

Support Legislation requiring Voter-Verified Paper Trail for 2004 Elections
In the 2002 election, brand new computer voting systems used in Florida LOST over 100,000 votes due to a software error. Errors and irregularities were also reported in New Jersey, Missouri, Georgia, Texas and at least 10 other states. Widespread speculation about politically connected private company suppliers of these machines having sole access to the software programming has been in the news since the 2000 elections.

New Jersey touch-screen voting machine plans
NEW! The final HAVA State Plan has been published and filed with the Federal Election Commission. It contains the following recommendation:
It is the further intention of the Attorney General to undertake a study of the recent national discussion by computer scientists regarding the security of software programs for voting systems and the capability of a voter to view a "paper verification" of his or her votes before casting the ballot. To elaborate, there is an articulated position that all voting machines should be capable of allowing the voter to see his or her votes on a secured piece of paper. The voter would only be allowed to view this document, but not to take it out of the polling place. The document would remain in the custody of the election officials. Any such procedure would have to appropriately safeguard the secrecy of the ballot. Congressman Rush Holt of New Jersey has recently introduced federal legislation on this matter. (Section One, p. 7)

12. Thank you
That's very helpful. I'm not paying close enough attention to this and it is such an important matter.

5. Red Bank is my "home away from home".....
virtually every weekend the njdem can be observed wandering around in the vicinity of Broad & Monmouth Streets.....
101.5 is horrible, but I'm on the road all day long for work, so I have to tune in a few times a day for traffic reports (the only thing they're good for), otherwise I'm tuned in to WNYC, 93.9, 91.5, or Air America, when I can get the damn station in.....

6. re: Diebold.....
as a matter of fact, I stopped at the 7-11 on 35 North in Belmar around 2:30 P.M. yesterday, and there was a Diebold commercial van parked in front (they're a pretty big company, I believe voting machines are only a small part of what they do), Air America listeners would know this was at the same time Congressman Rush Holt was on the O'Franken Factor talking about the diabolical Diebold ba...rds, what a coincidence, huh?

11. Huh
I'm not far along the shore from Belmar. I'd better put in a call and find out what's up with this. Just to be sure.

15. They make ATM's, too...
and are in a lot of other businesses, like printing.

Diebold vans don't necessarily mean the End is coming.

17. As a matter of fact.....
The ATM at my bank is by Diebold, I'd better keep a close eye on my transactions, just to be sure they don't "accidentally" transfer my funds into the GOP's account somehow.....;-)

18. Aberdeen checking in.
We just got our sample ballots for the primary, and the illustration shows that we still have our good ole lever voting machines, no touch-screen monstrosities yet, thank goodness.
