An eventful Saturday morning...
So, I went on down to the Morris County Democratic Party Headquarters in Morristown. My intent was to sign the various petitions for county-wide and local district candidates, and maybe get involved on the municipal level.

Well, I got more involved than I'd planned to: I'm now the municipal chair for my town, and the petition has started to get me on the ballot for the borough council.

I'm a candidate for public office? It purely boggles the mind. :)

Oh, and I did sign those petitions, and I mentioned DU to the Deputy County Chair. She hadn't heard of it yet, so I gave her the URL to check out.

4. Good advice, thanks.
And my roots are never very far from my mind. They're what keep me centered. :)

8. Thanks. I have no shot at actually winning this thing...
...but at least for once there'll be at least one Democratic candidate on the ballot. And actually, since yesterday, it turns out that because I'm putting myself on the ballot, there's going to be another candidate for us!

Woo-hoo!

I guess sometimes a little company is all you need. :)

10. I like that attitude.
A lot of the local candidates in Warren County get their feelings hurt so much. I told one of them that I had already signed his petition a few weeks back and he just looked like he lost his dog.

Sure, some people will call you a loser and try to make you feel bad, but so what? The sun doesn't shine on what they think of you.

BTW, which municipality? I grew up in Long Valley.

13. Thanks. I'm just being realistic here.
I hope I have a thick enough skin for this; I hear local politics can get pretty nasty.

You've got mail. A short one. :)

11. Do you know any Wellstone grads to help w/campaign?
Edited on Mon Apr-11-05 10:42 AM by FogerRox
In a local race one of the most effective tools a canidate has is face to face meetings--going door to door--can you get a list of voters in your town? The list that has party affiliation and how many times they voted--that will tell you if they are die hard--voting in every primary--or just 4 pres.

Also --you need to hook up with DFA Morris-they can provide support.

Do you know Judy FOx?

I'm a Wellstone grad and have a list of grads-from the NJ Camp--march 4th -6th--there may be one or 2 in your area. I'm in South Orange.

"No chance" maybe--but a dark horse making a good run of it will get attention--and shake som cages--LOL.

Look at my sig---email me
