How would someone get active politically in NJ?
I live in Parsippany in Morris county. I moved here recently for a job with *big drug company I can't name*. I'd like to get involved with politics as I used to be active with the Democratic party where I used to live(Alabama). What are some numbers, groups, etc to get active around here?

Thanks

1. Welcome to Morris County....
....I live in Rockaway, about 15 minutes west of Parsippany.

Can't help you on the political tip since aside from being registered and donating I'm not overly active. I do remember a year or two ago going to the morris county dems website and realizing it hadn't been updated in what looked like a year. Not sure if they've gotten better or not.

If you have any questions about the area in general, PM me.

5. It's gotten better, vi5, and Morris County is getting organized.

We're running lots of Democratic candidates in previously unchallenged areas, and there's excitement for a change. Recheck the website: Go here: http://www.morrisdems.org /
The municipal contacts are here: http://www.morrisdems.org/municipalchairs.htm

Are you in the Township or the Borough?

7. I'm in the borough....
Thanks for the tip. Admittedly I should have been more proactive in checking and getting involved but with my wife and I both working and a 3 and a half year old daughter, free time is at a minimum so I took more to donating my money to specific groups when I didn't have time to spare.

2. maybe this will help
I live in Burlington County and also work in the same industry as you. I started to go to Dean meet ups a couple of years ago but have had too many demands that I was not able to continue. Even if one was not a Dean supporter, the members were pretty active, there was a lot of networking, and they were heavily involved in local Democratic politics and knew the groups and organizations that you are looking for. The Dean meet ups are now democracy for America and the website if.

This may serve as a gateway for what you are looking for.

3. Go to the NJ state forum here on DU
and ask there. I'm sure someone will be able to help you plug in. Good luck!

6. I've heard Avery Hart speak at a few BlueWaveNJ meetings
in Montclair (BlueWave is a new grassroots org. in the Montclair area). She really deserves your support--it is people like her who will turn our red areas more blue!
