I went to the BBQ Fundraiser for Thom Jackson yesterday...
...and it was a great event. Thom Jackson is running for the Assembly from the 25th District, and he is a marvelous speaker. Congressman Robert Menendez was the guest of honor. There was a really good turnout; my guess is somewhere between 75-100 guests, plus the dozen or so hard-working volunteers running the event.

It was a real relief to be in a place where so many like minds were engaged. :) There were many elected officials there, including some from adjoining counties, candidates for local offices from around Morris County, and a couple of former County chairmen.

While I was there, I heard some interesting snippets of conversation. and I wish I'd written this last night, 'cause now I can only remember one: "I'm doing volunteer work with Bill Clinton."

Among the many people I met were a very articulate couple; the husband works in the book business, and had brought many copies of George Lakoff's book "Don't Think of an Elephant!" to the party and was giving them away. You have to love the generosity of progressives. I have one now and will be reading it and re-reading it during the upcoming campaign season. I'm one of those 'candidates' I mentioned earlier. :)

I also acquired a Thom Jackson yard sign -- that goes up tomorrow.
