Political corruption probe rocks New Jersey
The latest investigation into possible political misconduct is one of the biggest ever. Federal agents have delivered grand jury subpoenas to every key state official, all the way up to Democratic Gov. Jon S. Corzine.

"Even for a state that is infamous for widespread misconduct by public officials, this has got to be a new low," said Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce.

U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie is reviewing whether state lawmakers have personally benefited from so-called "Christmas tree" items — grants included in the budget at the final hour, without public review or discussion.

1. Wayne R. Bryant, D-Camden
State Sen. Wayne R. Bryant, D-Camden, who is under criminal investigation by state and federal grand juries, officially announced Friday that he will not seek re-election, ending his 27-year political career.

"Recent events in my personal and professional life have caused me to carefully analyze and reconsider my priorities and my future," Bryant, 59, said in a prepared statement. "After thoughtful deliberation and discussions with my family and friends, I have decided not to seek re-election to the New Jersey Senate."

Bryant's withdrawal from the race turns attention to Dana Redd, 39, a longtime Bryant ally who has been chosen by Democratic party leaders to replace him as a candidate.

Redd, vice president of the Camden City Council and vice chairwoman of the state Democratic committee, will take Bryant's place on the ballot for the June primary election, City Council President Angel Fuentes said.

2. I sure am happy
I have republicans looking out for Democratic corruption in the state of NJ.

Boy, that Jeff Christie sure showed 'em when he looked into Menendez's landlord relationship back when he was running for Senate. Never mind that this relationship had already been cleared by the Ethics Committee. Our diligent public servant, Jeff Christie, looked into it again.
