Wolfe announces petition to renew Assault Weapons Ban

Ridgewood, NJ Congress and the President have just ten days left in which to renew the current ban on Assault Weapons. Neither President Bush nor local Congressman Scott Garrett (NJ-5) has shown any desire to renew this common sense legislation. In fact, Garrett, a far right wing conservative, appears to be dead set against the measure.

Every major police organization in America is calling for a renewal of the ban. However, their voices are falling on deaf ears in the current government. Statistics show that crimes involving such weapons dropped by nearly 30% in large urban areas across America in just the first year of the ban alone. Since then, gun deaths have continued to decline.

The Wolfe for Congress campaign has taken this step to insure that Congressman Garrett gets the unmistakable message from the people of his district that inaction on this crucial public safety issue is totally unacceptable. In the coming days leading up to the bans sunset date of September 13, our campaign will continue to hammer this issue home with both the media and the public at large.

Machine guns, grenade launchers and armor piercing bullets exist to eliminate human life. Its that simple. At the same time, sportsmen and responsible gun owners should not be punished for the acts of criminals and gangs, said Anne Wolfe, outlining her common sense approach to firearms policy. What I will do in Congress is find the balance between the rights granted to us by the 2nd Amendment to the constitution and keeping our children and our law enforcement officers safe.

With over 30,000 gun deaths each year, the answer is certainly not to allow more lethal assault weapons to flow into our neighborhoods, Wolfe concluded.

1. Who supports the Assault Weapons Ban?
Who supports the Assault Weapons Ban?

Those who have seen the terror of assault weapon violence

Ridgewood, NJ – With just four days remaining until the sunset of the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban it is important to understand who is in favor of continuing the ban and why.

The fact that every major police organization supports the ban comes as no surprise. They see first hand the results of gang violence and do not want these types of “cop killer” weapons and ammunition turned against them on the streets.

On Wednesday evening, ABC News reported the results of an Annenberg survey showing that 68% of Americans favor extending the ban on assault weapons. The people have spoken; Scott Garrett and the other radicals in Congress are deaf!
