Destroying the forest to save it; aka Ramapo "Preserve"
Today I was driving north on Rt 202 in Mahwah and saw the sign designating yet another new development on the east side of 202.

Where there was once forest, there are now clearcut lots and a roadbed.

The new development is called "Ramapo Preserve"! A stroke of clever marketing genius? Obviously there's no sense of irony or shame here.

And I thought Ramapo River Reserve was bad...

1. This is sad to hear
I grew up in the Mahwah area of Bergen County. 20 years ago it was forested and lovely. My husband and I went back last year and I was devastated to see all the development going on. All the thick stands of trees along Rt 17 are gone, replaced by houses. My own home town is crowded and ugly. I wouldn't move back there now if they paid me.
