2. The Beast is the best...(dial-up warning, lots of pics)

A uniquely hilarious and ruthlessly frank paper--they'd be a standout in any city. Matt Taibbi, who now writes for Rolling Stone, was their founding editor.

Great writing and the covers are some of the best I've seen.

3. For a dead rust belt city

Buffalo has more then its share of great free newspapers. The Beast stands head and shoulders above the rest. It doesn't take itself too seriously (cough, Artvoice, cough) but still gets its messages across.
