4th district - Price and Miller
As anticipated, the republicans redrew Congressional districts and in the process have two of the stronger Congressional Democrats from out state staring at a battle for the same piece of real estate in 2012. Sucks for us, because we need both of them in Washington.

Offstage, a Price-Miller battle brewing in the 4th

(snip)
Price said the new districts, including the 4th, are legally questionable under the Voting Rights Act, mainly because they pack most of the power of the state's black voters into three districts.

While Miller believes there is strong merit to the arguments against the GOP redistricting plan, it is uncertain how actions by the courts or Department of Justice will affect the districts and the next election. Initial responses to the maps may not be known until the end of the year, he says. The Justice Department has a range of remedies, including ordering the court to draw the maps or instructing the Legislature to redraw them.

Thoughts?

1. xpost this in GD or 2012 forum around 9 AM?
I don't think you'll get the range of response now that you'll get in the morning, and I'm quite interested in where the conversation might go based on the Indy's very delicate handling of the issue. thx

2. It could have been any source article, I just happened to...
...quote the Indy article because it was in front of me when I posted last night.

I am axiously awaiting the DOJ ruling. IMO both of these gentlemen are needed in Congress, not one or the other. Congressman Price is my representative, but I have had the pleasure of meeting Congressman Miller and applaud his hard work for the people of the 13th district over the years. I don't think we are in a place where we can do without either of them.

3. It seems like a no-brainer that this would NOT be approved.
But sadly, I have no faith in our current Justice Department. :-(
