Autopsy says Davidson County jail inmate was homicide victim
LEXINGTON, N.C. - An inmate who died in the Davidson County jail was a homicide victim who suffered both severe head trauma and asphyxiation, according to an autopsy report.

Carlos Claros Castro, 28, of Thomasville, died Jan. 7 during a struggle with jailers who tried to take a fiberglass mop handle away from him, officials said.

The autopsy released Wednesday showed several bruises on Claros Castro's head and body, bleeding in the brain and neck, wounds from Taser guns and evidence of asphyxiation. His body also showed signs of many other cuts and bruises.

"Having seen the body myself and the damage that was done to the body, this is about what we expected the report to show," said Richard Summers, the Atlanta attorney representing Claros Castro's family. "It's obvious that this man was beaten to death." <snip>
