Dole's disgrace- Mon Jan 29th!
The lobbying to encourage our congressional representatives to bring our troops home ASAP went fairly well at Sen. Burr's office, at least it was an informative meeting. The one at Howard Coble's office was quite interesting, he is at least against the surge. Both meetings were held with well informed legislative aides in conference rooms. Rep. Coble had planned to meet with us personally, but did not make it back from NC in time.
Lizzie Dole's office had refused a meeting, and then did not return any further calls. When we went there to at least drop off the United for Peace and Justice information, we were escorted into the hallway by an aide-with a bad cold, who apparently was just going to take our information. We had a brief discussion, he brought up 911 and the war on terror - as the reasons we were in Iraq.
2 conference rooms apparently were empty and available, but we were NOT invited/allowed in.

So refused to meet, or even arrange for an aide to meet with her constituents reguarding our concerns for our soldiers. Our group included vets, and military family members.

They are going to have a press conference reguarding this at some time. I'll post again if I hear more.
Other than that my weekend in NC was wonderful.
Oh one funny thing happened I arrived early in WDC Monday AM and so went by the Whitehouse around 7 AM just as Cheney was pulling in, so I was gald I had my sign with me.
http://capwiz.com/pdamerica/home/ this is a web site where in you can contact officials to keep up the pressure BTW. I plan to do so tomorrow- a day late for the virtual march http://pol.moveon.org/virtualmarch/ but still a good thing to do.

3. Thanks for sharing this information. Honestly I am not surpised by Lizzy's office..
they are a bunch of a "tools" for the repug party. She is useless!!! Funny thing is she has recently come out questioning the new "surge" in Iraq.
