Friends of Asheville Buncombe Living Wage Campaign,

HERE'S YOUR OPPORTUNITY to speak up to City Council about the importance of a living wage for Asheville!

On March 13, we presented our proposal for a living wage ordinance to the Asheville City Council.
Many of you were there to support the proposal and Council members were impressed that we filled the room.
This time, you will be the ones to speak on behalf of a living wage!

HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO:

1. Come to City Council meeting on Tuesday May 22nd. You are entitled to three minutes to make your statement - please come and share your story,
or the story of someone you know, that is affected by low wages or economic difficulty. Or just come and be a presence to show your support.

2. Contact City Council members today, asking them to support the Asheville Buncombe Living Wage Campaign's living wage proposal.
See contact info below. We need them to receive as many emails, phone calls, and letters as possible between now and May 22nd.

3. Write a letter to the editor of the Asheville Citizen Times or the Mountain Xpress. These letters make a difference in educating the public,
and letting Council members know that many people in the community are concerned about this issue.
Share your own story and opinions; or respond to one of two recent commentaries in the ACT:

Click on this link to read Barbara Hunter's column in the ACT from Thurs. April 19th.
Click on this link to read Isaac Coleman and Mark Siler's guest commentary in the ACT from April 5th.

For more info on the campaign, contact 828-301-7291 or info@ashevillelivingwage.org

For the proposed ordinance and FAQ's, see www.justeconomicswnc.org

See you on Tuesday!!
