Paduchik, manager of the Petro-Heimlich Republican gubernatorial campaign, debunked a rampant rumor that Heimlich soon will quit the ticket and announce his candidacy for reelection as a Hamilton County commissioner.

Heimlich told The Dispatch the rumor was untrue about a month ago. Petro perhaps unwittingly kept it alive by telling The Plain Dealer’s editorial board that there’s "always a chance" that Heimlich, father of two young children, might run for re-election to be closer to his Cincinnati family.

Paduchik labeled the rumor "ridiculous" yesterday and blamed the campaign of one of Petro’s GOP gubernatorial rivals, Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell, for starting it.
