3. Lap Dance
I heard that 10,000 jobs are at risk,
but unemployment is no problem in Ohio.(snicker) I moved back
here from AZ after many years and it is shocking to see how
badly my home state has been damaged by "free
trade".

5. the conservative groups went around the legislature to force a vote on the bill
this was not the idea of the gop dinks in the Ohio legislature. They were laying in the weeds and avoiding the issue.

The extra-conservatives determined that they could force a vote on the bill by getting ~130,000 signatures on a petition. Then the bill would bypass committees and go to the floor. It was not a secret ballot, so the legislators had to register a public vote of whether they like naked dancing girls bumping and grinding horny men in the dark corners of smokey clubs all over this great state of ours.

I dare say that most of those gop reps could not vote how they really felt. You know, away from home, high stress job, evening free....

I mean shit, I can't go anywhere without some naked chick gyrating on my lap. It's damned inconvenient.

13. This is the type of thing moral Bewsh and war-supporting Duh-Highans worry about.
Never mind that our state still lives in the Reagan 20th century as far as economic development is concerned. No, let's just concentrate on demonizing naked women that you couldn't touch in the first place.

16. PD--the sex-obsessed Burress and company brought the legislature to its knees again this month, ...
It's barely been six months since the Cincinnati crowd that dominates Republican politics lost just about every election there was to lose in Ohio. But despite being rendered impotent by voters, those self-appointed regulators of personal and sexual conduct are proving they can still have their way with the Ohio General Assembly.

Why anyone in the legislature with an IQ over 50 would pay any attention to what Phil Burress and the Citizens for Community Values have to say is beyond us. Yet the sex-obsessed Burress and company brought the legislature to its knees again this month, winning passage of a bill that imposes a no-touching law on strip clubs in the state.

And though it's difficult for us to work up much of a First Amendment lather against a law that prohibits males from pawing scantily clad women, here are three brief observations:

1) The legislature spent far too much time discussing this issue.

2) Ohio's newspapers - especially this one - killed far too many trees writing stories about this issue.

3) It's a bad bill that might be unconstitutional and once again demonstrates the utter contempt Republicans have for local control - a concept they falsely claim to cherish.

A veto from Gov. Ted Strickland would remind Burress and company that they no longer control all three branches of state government.

Last I heard, Strickland is going to lay low and let it become law without his signature.
