Good News For Ohio: Poll Shows SB 5 Would Be Easily Repealed

Poll shows Senate Bill 5 will be repealed

Senate Bill 5 would easily be repealed by Ohio voters if the referendum were held now, a new poll today shows.

The measure to strip many collective bargaining rights from state and local government workers would be rejected by 18 points, 54 percent to 36 percent, says the Quinnipiac Poll.

“Although it is a long way until November when opponents of SB 5 hope to ask voters to overturn it, at this point there is strong support for repealing Gov. (John) Kasich’s signature plan,” said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, in a release.

Independent voters, crucial to the success of any statewide candidate or issue, oppose the controversial measure by 19 points. The measure is losing by a large margin in every region of Ohio except the west central area. Central Ohio voters turn thumbs down by a whopping 26 points.

I took a grandson to a spring concert at school, and as I was waiting just inside the doors I saw a woman with a clipboard and another writing on it. I hoped I knew what it was so I went out and tried to read over her shoulder.

I couldn't tell, so I asked the woman what it was. She simply said "It's a petition, do you want to sign it?". When I pressed her for more information she said "It's for teachers and firemen". It was obvious she was trying to be purposely vague at that point so I asked point blank if it was to repeal SB5. She then admitted it was, so I expressed my disgust for John Kasich and his union busting tactics. The woman, who I later found out was a teacher, showed great relief for what I assume was fear that I was a Tea Bagger about to give her a hard time. I'm guessing she'd met a few already. I thanked her profusely for her hard work as I inked my name.

She informed me that there were petitions at most police & fire stations so I've been taking as many people as I can think of to the local department. I hope they get enough by the end of the month deadline (maybe it's the middle of April, but I'm not taking chances).

Consider this a notice that anyone in Ohio who wants to sign the petition should go to their local fire department ASAP.

I've been fearful of whether they'd find enough signatures, but this is encouraging.

dumped a good decent man like Ted Strickland to elect this back-climbing parasite. He doesn't give a crap about the citizens of this state, as long it propels him to bigger things. After SB-5 is overturned, then the recall.

The commercials with the "facts" about how high our taxes are and how we need to cut government spending are already filling the airwaves during every newscast. The SB 5 supporters have a group with a title very close to "We Are Ohio," which will confuse voters.

Once we get the repeal on the ballot, we are going to have to work very hard to fight all of the money and lies funded by Johnny K's corporate buddies.
