Dayton Daily News...22% jump in Dem voters in the primary.
This year, 214,000 more Ohioans voted in the Democratic presidential primary than in 2000, giving Ohio Democrats a treasure trove of prospective voters to contact for the November election.....

....Observers say two factors drove the 22 percent jump in Democratic voters: Democratic Sens. John Kerry of Massachusetts and John Edwards of North Carolina were still actively campaigning by March 2 and President Bush has a way of motivating Democrats to get to the polls.

However:

"A good portion of the increase are cross-over voters, officials say, people who normally vote Republican or who voted Republican in the last primary.

Some of those, such as Anna and Leonard Sacksteder — who voted for Arizona Sen. John McCain in the 2000 Republican primary — are unhappy with President Bush and don't want to see him re-elected.

On the other hand, Lilian Horn of Vandalia cast a Democratic primary ballot because she liked Edwards, but she does not plan to vote for Kerry."
