A happy little rumor for my fellow Greater Daytonians.
A marginally reliable rumor has it that Costco has purchased property somewhere in Greater Dayton, with plans to open a warehouse club in this part of Ohio within the next couple of years.

As we all know, the two closest Costco locations are at least half an hour away. Hubby came back from lunch the other day and saw that Costco had partnered with his (Dayton area) employer to offer employees of his company a special membership. When he went over to sign up and was talking to the membership rep at the table, he asked why they were in the area and was told that Costco had purchased property within the area (the membership rep didn't know for sure, but thought it was near one of the malls, which would likely be either Beavercreek or Miamisburg).

Costco would have our undying loyalty, as long as their corporate policies remained employee-friendly -- they're supposed to be among the best grocery and retail employers in the U.S.

Hope they get a move on -- I'd like to have that option!

2. We do have a Trader Joe's.
And we're quite fond of it, but you can't get everything there. We're really getting serious about trying to back away from P&G and Kroger and buy smarter and less damaging. A Costco would make that even easier for us, and I'm all for making conscious buying decisions that much easier.
