My LTTE to WOSU re The Journal Editorial Report

To Whom It May Concern,

I'm writing to express my strong objections to the episode of "The Journal Editorial Report" aired this evening on your station. The panel members recited republican talking points on the Shiavo matter verbatim. They even used the terms "culture of life" in reference to republicans and "party of death" regarding Democrats. They went on to refer to the judges involved as activists. They dismissed the American people as misinformed when confronted with polling data.

Without bothering to argue over the merits of the above mentioned court case, this was purely partisan hackery and doesn't belong on PBS. It was obviously an attempt to "spin" the facts of this story into a distorted reality for political purposes.

Since when has PBS become a venue for political propaganda? Are there no longer any standards to be met? I object to any public funding being used in this manner. I can't tell you how disappointed I was to this on a PBS station. I thought PBS was better than that...

I couldn't believe I was seeing this on PBS...

I thought Rush was back on TV they way they were talking.

In this type of venue, they're usually more subtle but not this time. Paul Gigot even suggested the Congressional memo re the Shiavo case wasn't real.

I've had my hot cocoa and I'm feeling better now.
