Senators Dann, Fingerhut announce energy and environment plan
ONN

COLUMBUS - State Senators Marc Dann (D-Liberty Township) and Eric Fingerhut (D-Cleveland) announced their plan to create new sources of energy and clean Ohio's environment.

"Ohio must invest in new sources of energy technology," Senator Dann said. "Ohio has become the dumping ground for out-of-state trash. We must stop garbage dumping from other states into our backyards."

The Dann and Fingerhut proposal will raise tipping fees on solid waste and construction and demolition debris while encouraging municipalities and citizens to recycle. Additionally, the plan sets aside one-third of Governor Taft's kilowatt hour tax increase for projects that create low-cost, low-polluting sources of electricity and encourage conservation.

"Innovative clean technology will rebuild Ohio's economy," Senator Fingerhut said. "By investing in new energy sources, Ohio becomes a cleaner and economically developed state."
