The state that sealed the re-election of President George W. Bush last fall welcomes the Republican Party again today when its state party chairmen begin a conference at Cleveland's Renaissance Hotel.
Their mission: begin plotting their strategy for winning the next presidential election, looking in particular at Ohio and other key battleground states.
Ohio Republican Party Chairman Bob Bennett said organizers picked the Buckeye State to host the annual meeting, which will attract about 150 people, to recognize Ohio's decisive role in last fall's election...
Former Democrat vice presidential candidate JOHN EDWARDS will speak tonight at the National Conference of Black Mayors' annual meeting in Columbus, marking his second speech in the state in less than a week.

HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON sweeps into Cleveland for two events Saturday, both of which can help her should she run for president.
She will first raise her visibility in Democratic Warrensville Heights by attending A FORUM ON VOTING REFORM sponsored by U.S.REPRESENTATIVE STEPHANIE TUBBS JONES. Then, she will hobnob with lawyers - some of the Democratic Party's most reliable contributors - when she gives the keynote address Saturday night at the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland's 100th anniversary gala.
Melanie Shakarian, LAS director of development, said the society snagged Clinton, who ran a legal clinic in Arkansas, because of her "strong connection to legal services for the poor."
